Photography has been part of my life for over 25 years. What started with a gifted film camera at 17 years old grew into a lifelong passion for capturing real moments, genuine emotion, and meaningful memories for families throughout Northwest Indiana.
Today, Shots by Luis specializes in sports photography, school and organization portraits, senior sessions, families, couples, and special occasions creating professional images and keepsakes that families can look back on for years to come.

For me, photography has never been just about posing people and clicking a shutter. The moments that matter most are the real ones… the laughter between family members, the confidence of a senior about to graduate, the excitement of a child on opening day, or the emotion shared during life’s biggest milestones.
I strive to create photography that feels genuine, comfortable, and personal rather than overly staged or forced.

From Film Photography to Modern Portraits
My photography journey began long before digital cameras. After receiving my first film camera at 17 years old, I went on to study film photography in college and continued developing my skills through years of hands-on experience behind the camera.
That foundation taught me not only the technical side of photography, but also the importance of patience, storytelling, lighting, timing, and capturing meaningful moments with intention.
Today, I combine that experience with modern photography techniques and professional editing to create clean, vibrant, emotional imagery for today’s families and organizations.
